Categories & Criteria
The Redditch Business Awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and community impact across the local business sector. These awards recognise organisations and individuals who demonstrate outstanding performance, leadership, and contribution to the Redditch economy and community.
Eligibility:
Businesses or organisations must be based in, operate within, or demonstrate a clear impact in Redditch.
Evidence Guidance:
Applicants may provide supporting evidence such as testimonials, case studies, photographs, screenshots, certificates, inspection reports, policies, or examples of work from 2025–2026.
Customer Service Excellence
Description:
This award celebrates businesses that consistently deliver outstanding customer service and go above and beyond to create positive, memorable experiences. It recognises organisations that place customers at the heart of their operations and continually strive to exceed expectations.
Qualifying Criteria:
• Demonstrates a clear commitment to customer satisfaction
• Evidence of positive customer feedback, reviews, or testimonials
• Strong customer service policies and staff training
• Examples of handling customer challenges effectively
• Shows innovation or continuous improvement in customer experience
Charity of the Year
Description:
The Charity of the Year Award recognises a charitable organisation or community group that has made a meaningful and measurable difference within the Redditch community. Judges will assess organisations that demonstrate effective leadership, strong community engagement, and the ability to create lasting positive change.
Qualifying Criteria:
• Must be a registered charity, Community Interest Company (CIC), or not‑for‑profit organisation
• Clear evidence of positive community or social impact
• Demonstrates effective use of resources and funding
• Strong governance and leadership
• Shows collaboration, outreach, or community engagement
Creative Business of the Year
Description:
This award celebrates businesses that thrive on creativity, innovation, and original thinking. It recognises organisations that use creative approaches to stand out in their industry while contributing to the local economy.
Qualifying Criteria:
• Creativity is central to the business offering
• Evidence of originality, innovation, or standout projects
• Demonstrates commercial success or growth
• Strong branding, design, or creative outputs
• Positive client or audience feedback
Employer of the Year
Description:
The Employer of the Year Award recognises businesses that excel in creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive working environment. Judges will assess organisations that value their people, invest in their development, and create a culture where employees feel respected, motivated, and empowered to succeed.
Qualifying Criteria:
• Demonstrates strong leadership and people management
• Evidence of employee engagement, development, and well-being
• Inclusive and fair workplace practices
• Investment in training, skills, or career progression
• Positive staff feedback or strong retention rates
Beauty & Wellbeing Excellence
Description:
This award celebrates excellence within the hair, beauty, and wellbeing sector, recognising businesses that deliver high-quality services while maintaining exceptional professional standards and customer care.
Qualifying Criteria:
• Offers hair, beauty, or wellbeing services
• High standards of customer care and service delivery
• Qualified, skilled, and professional staff
• Strong reputation and client loyalty
• Demonstrates innovation or service development
Hospitality & Leisure Business of the Year
Description:
This award recognises businesses that provide outstanding experiences within the hospitality, food, drink, or leisure sectors. Judges will assess organisations that consistently deliver high standards of service, quality, and atmosphere while contributing to Redditch’s social life and visitor appeal.
Qualifying Criteria:
• Operates within hospitality or leisure sectors
• Consistently high-quality service and customer experience
• Positive customer reviews or industry recognition
• Strong management and operational standards
• Contribution to the local community or tourism
• Compliance with relevant regulations such as food hygiene, health & safety, and licensing where applicable
Independent Business of the Year
Description:
The Independent Business of the Year Award celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit of locally owned and operated businesses that demonstrate resilience, creativity, and a strong connection to the local community.
Qualifying Criteria:
• Independently owned and operated (not a franchise)
• Demonstrates business growth or sustainability
• Strong local presence and community engagement
• Distinctive products or services
• Evidence of adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit
Manufacturing Business of the Year
Description:
This category recognises excellence in manufacturing, production, and engineering. Judges will assess businesses that demonstrate quality, efficiency, innovation, and investment in people, processes, and technology.
Qualifying Criteria:
• Operates within manufacturing or production
• Demonstrates high standards of quality and efficiency
• Evidence of innovation, technology, or process improvement
• Strong health, safety, and compliance practices
Customers’ Choice Award
Description:
The Customers’ Choice Award is a public-voted category that recognises the business that has made the greatest positive impact on its customers and the wider community in Redditch. Unlike other categories that are primarily assessed by a judging panel, this award places the decision directly in the hands of the public, allowing customers, residents and visitors to show their support for the businesses they value most.
This award celebrates businesses that consistently deliver excellent customer service, memorable experiences and strong relationships with their customers. It reflects those organisations that go above and beyond to create welcoming environments, respond to customer needs and contribute positively to the town centre.
By giving the community the opportunity to vote, the award captures the true voice of Redditch’s customers, highlighting the businesses that people genuinely enjoy visiting and recommending to others. It recognises that loyal customers and strong community support are a key measure of a business’s success and reputation.
The Customers’ Choice Award therefore represents not only business excellence, but also the strength of connection between local businesses and the community they serve, celebrating those that make Redditch a vibrant and welcoming place to shop, dine and do business.
This award will be decided through a two-stage process:
Stage 1 – Nominations and Shortlisting
The nomination process will follow the same format as the other award categories and is open to all eligible businesses. Nominations will be assessed by the judging panel, and the quality of the submission will determine which businesses are shortlisted.
Stage 2 – Public Voting
Once the shortlist has been confirmed by the judges, the shortlisted businesses will proceed to a public vote. The business receiving the most votes will be selected as the winner of the category.

Community Hero Award

Nominees will be evaluated based on their commitment to community service, the effectiveness of their initiatives, and their ability to inspire others to get involved. By shining a light on these champions of community spirit, we aim to encourage further participation and collaboration among residents and businesses alike.

• Evidence of commitment, dedication, and going above and beyond
• Shows compassion, leadership, or initiative in supporting others
• Impact is voluntary or community-focused rather than purely commercial
Nominations should ideally be supported by evidence demonstrating the nominee’s impact on the community. This may include testimonials from beneficiaries or partners, letters of support from local organisations such as schools, charities, or public services, photos or videos of activities or initiatives, and examples of the nominee responding to a community need, launching a project, or addressing an unmet local challenge.
